Expedition agility canvas and legenda

Get started and make your own route to agility!

Step 1. Grab a pencil, eraser, and download the expedition agility canvas and expedition agility legenda.
This canvas will help you visualize your route across the six islands of the AMIGOS model. You can do this for yourself or make a large print of the canvas and discuss and fill it in with other Amigos.
Use our expedition agility workshop to get started in a step by step way.

Step 2. Determine your starting point (A)
Briefly write down why you want to embark on this journey. What is the necessity to start moving? Why is it so important to become responsive? Is the organization’s survival at stake? Is there a particular ambition? What happens if we take no action? If you find this hard to determine, visit the Island of Inspiration, where you will find treasures to help you with this.

Step 3. Determine your travel destination (B)
Briefly write down your vision for your journey towards agility. What does your responsive organization roughly look like? Where do you want to go? How do you envision it, and how will you know you’ve arrived? If you need help defining your travel destination and the journey’s goal, visit the Island of Inspiration.

Step 4. Determine your route from A to B across the islands in the AMIGOS model
You might wonder where to start. To change, you need to discover, recognize, and acknowledge why your organization is not responsive enough. You want to tackle these issues step-by-step. But how do you find out where the problem lies? The best way to discover this is by doing things differently and regularly reflecting, learning, and improving. A responsive approach is well-suited for this. Start experimenting with this method in teams to bring to light what otherwise remains hidden. Discover the challenges you need to address.
Need help? How to use a responsive approach to shape your change program is detailed on the Island of Agility. There, and on the other islands, you can find treasures to inspire solutions for your challenges. You can also leave behind ballast on the islands, freeing yourself from hindrances. You decide which islands to visit and in what order.

Step 5. Evaluate, learn, and adjust your route
Be aware that your route will change along the way. Each visit to an island and each step you take will provide new insights that determine the next part of your route. By immediately experimenting with what you’ve learned on an island, you gain valuable feedback on what works and what doesn’t. Try sailing with new sails and experience new ways of scrubbing the deck. Do what is necessary to test whether it works and measure if you’ve become more responsive than before. If it’s not quite working yet, that’s ok, as long as you investigate why and learn from it. This gives insight into what your next step might be. So, grab b your pencil and eraser and adjust your route. New insights might lead not only to a revised route but possibly also to a refined starting point (A) and travel destination (B).
