The weather forecast

A way to make the principles for agility your own is the weather forecast. Go to work with a team on these principles to see to what extent they are being applied.

  • Put the principles one by one on an A4 on the wall or lay them on the floor and let all team members stand by the principle that appeals to them the most or that they find the most important.
  • Explain to each other why you chose that principle.
  • Give a score using the weather forecasts (sunny, partly cloudy, cloudy, stormy). This score indicates the extent to which the principle is applied within your team or organization.
  • Prioritize the principles and choose the top two.
  • Align with each other what needs to be done to start applying the principle.
  • Also indicate what behavior change is needed. Behavior is visible: what do you actually see people doing differently?
  • Finally, ask: is there anything holding you back? What do you need to actually do things differently?
