Development adventure

Don’t be discouraged by the long list of knowledge and skills of an Amigo. See it as an adventure where you can play, have fun, and celebrate successes, no matter how small. Look not only forward to what you still have to do, but also back to what you have already completed and achieved. Be creative and positive, and make sure you do things that give you energy. Do this especially together with other Amigos; you’ll learn a lot from each other. To help you with your personal development, you can use the following exercise:

This playful development adventure helps you shape your development in a personal and fun way. The goal is to go on a journey to improve your Amigo skills and have fun.

What you need:

  • A notebook
  • Colorful markers or pens

Steps:

  1. My superpowers
    Write down in your notebook what you are already good at as an Amigo. Call these your “superpowers.” Make it playful; feel free to draw or color.
  2. The golden tips
    Ask a colleague to write down three things you excel at and three areas where you can improve. Write this feedback in your notebook.
  3. My adventurous goals
    Set three development goals for yourself. What do you want to achieve as an Amigo? Make sure the goals are challenging but achievable.
  4. The treasure map
    Draw a treasure map on a blank page of your notebook. Mark a goal as “the treasure.” Add action steps to the map that will lead you to your goal.
  5. Adventurous action
    Choose one action point from your treasure map and start working on it. Think about how to make it fun and do it with enthusiasm. Regularly reflect on the progress and results you achieve.
  6. Treasure hunter
    Look for fun activities that give you energy and joy in your Amigo adventure.
  7. Share your adventure
    Discuss your goals and actions with your fellow Amigos. They might help you or want to join your adventure. And when you achieve goals, big or small, celebrate your successes. Organize a party or share your joy with your fellow Amigos.
  8. Start a new adventure
    You are never done learning, so calmly start again on your way to the next treasure.
