The value trophy
One way for teams to share results is by organizing a review or demo session on a regular schedule. What if we made a workshop out of this and gave it a theme, such as customer or organizational value? By having teams focus on delivered value instead of completed tasks, this aligns well with the journey towards agility. The team that has delivered the most value wins the value trophy. This is, of course, a challenge cup!
How to set up the challenge:
- The workshop is organized by and for the teams. Ensure sufficient participation (at least 25 people).
- Organize five time slots of ten minutes where teams can sign up to talk about the value they have delivered through an experiment, the realization of a new or adjusted functionality, a success they have achieved, or a mistake they have made. Everything can contain value!
- Ensure that the review or demo sessions per team don’t last longer than ten minutes, as that is the average time people can concentrate on a presentation. Possibly use music to demarcate the time slots.
- You can also organize parallel sessions and let the audience choose and move to the right location where the review or demo sessions are held.
- Ask the teams to choose interactive exercises with questions, statements, or other ways that promote the conversation. Keep it moving and make it fun, useful, and attractive.
- At the end, let all participants vote on which team has delivered the most value to the organization and why. The team with the most votes wins the value trophy.
- Don’t forget to reflect at the end of the challenge.
We are curious about your setup and what the audience thought of the workshop!
